Com Fest and a Cookout

Cece, Seth, Claire and Finn at Com Fest in Columbus.  What a fun day!

We had such a fun time hanging out with the cousins at a little cookout on Sunday.   Here Ian and Emily are soaking up some baby time with Annie and Finn.  So cute!

Summer Fun

We've been loving our summer so far! Spending lots of time outside and trying to stay cool. Finn is almost 7 months old already! He's sitting up by himself now (with many falls!) and loves playing with his toys - especially his ball and rattles. He is also starting to get some attitude, throwing a fit when someone takes something away from him and grabbing for everything within his reach. He does an awkward little scoot on his back when he's mad, or when he wants to move toward a toy - and he's actually really fast! Still not so great with sleeping through the night, but that's our project for the month of July! Finn is trying lots of new foods - some favorites: peaches, pears, and apples. Here are some pictures from the last few days.

Grandma Heffron got this awesome little pool for Finn - it's the perfect size for him and he LOVES splashing around in it. He lays back and lounges in it like it's a little raft. So fun to watch!

Finn's first dip in Lake Erie!

Finn and Annie had fun playing together at the beach in Vermillion.

When we got home from the beach, Finn was really hot so he cooled off by playing with (and eating) a wet rag. And then he threw a huge tantrum when I took it away from him so he could eat his dinner.

He finished off his day with a visit from Yaya!

Father's Day

Finn had a great Father's Day spending time with his dad and going to the concert in the park before bed with all of his cousins!

Swimming and Swinging!

Finn had his first baby swimming lesson last night. It was adorable to see him taking it all in. I didn't get a lot of smiles or laughs, he seemed kind of mesmerized by the water. He did think it was pretty funny when I blew bubbles at him though. His cousin, Annie, was in the same class and looked fabulous in her pink ruffled bathing suit!

We went to the park today - what a beautiful day! This weather is perfect for babies - not too hot, but nice and sunny. Finn took his first ride on the swing. Check out his fat little tummy hanging through the swing.

Finn's New Tricks

Well, he FINALLY decided to roll over this week! We've been working at this for a long time now, so I was very excited when I looked into the living room and found him on his tummy after leaving him on his back! He's also really close to sitting up by himself, but usually gets distracted by one of his toys and ends up collapsing right onto his face.

We've been trying new foods lately too - peas and bananas are the front-runners right now, but he's not a big fan of carrots...they usually go in and then come right back out.  Finn is getting a lot more independent lately.  He loves just hanging out with his toys on his blanket or jumping in his jumperoo.

I like this picture because it showcases both his sitting abilities and his comb-over.

Finn couldn't be more excited that his Uncle Max is home from school for the summer!  It's so fun having him around again...we missed him!

Bath time with dad.

Summer Is Here!

Summer is finally here and what better way to celebrate than going down to Parade The Circle? This was our first year going, and it definitely lived up to its reputation! It was a beautiful day and we had a great time!

Finn definitely took more interest in playing with his toes and the straps on his stroller than anything going on in the parade.

Mallie is Finn's best little buddy right now.  She gets so excited to see him and cries whenever I have to take him home.

Finn and the Great Outdoors

Oops, it's been almost a month since my last post!  I guess we've been busy!  Finn's getting big and is learning some new tricks.  He's SO close to rolling over (just can't quite get the hang of it yet) and is babbling and talking all day long.  His favorite noise to make is "dadadadadada".  I get the distinct feeling that daddy has been practicing this with him when I'm not home.  His other favorite is "ayayayayay", which makes him sound a bit like The Fonz.  He's a happy little guy and is sleeping much better at night now (thank goodness!).   Finn has a few new adventures to report on:

Drew is already priming Finn for his career as a professional whitewater kayaker.  I'm not so sure about this...the only thing that could make me more nervous about Drew tumbling down a roaring rapid in this boat is picturing Finn with him.  We'll see...

Finn went on his first camping trip on Memorial Day weekend.  We introduced him to Slippery Rock and Portersville (where we got married).  He loved watching us set up the campground and looking around at the trees and tents.

Finn fell asleep in the tent by himself for a couple hours before we joined him and actually slept pretty well through the night too!  He loved looking around the tent and playing with/eating the blankets and sleeping bags.  It looks a bit like I'm smothering him in this picture, but we really were quite comfy!

These two pics capture the moment a little better!

Here we are at Cheeseman Farm - Finn's first visit!

The barn where we got married - there have been a lot of renovations, so it was fun to see it this year.

A fun trip!

And, as so many exciting adventures do, this one ended with a well-deserved nap!
