Sick day

I have Mitchie home with me today. Here was the conversation - a bit of a monologue really - on our way home from dropping Finn off at school (who had a huge fit about having to go to school when his brother got to stay home) :

"I wish I had a magic potion to turn me into a life guard so I could have one of those big seats. Also, I wish we had a rooster to wake me up in the morning. I wish we had a pet sea gull that would flap it's wings all over the place. I wish we had a pet rat. It would not climb on our toilet. It would climb in other peoples toilets." 

Glad I kept this one home today, amazing comic relief.

It's been waaay too long!

Okay, oops. Haven't posted here in ages.  A couple of quick hilarious things I don't want to forget: 

Mitch has been sick today (coughing and sneezing) and he just overheard me on the phone with his auntie saying how sick he is.  I said, "no, he doesn't have a fever." And he sat right up and said, "wait! I need a mama theater! (Thermometer)" :)

Found this heap of Finn in the garden today when I opened the back door :)

Main pastime the past few weeks: Santa and reindeer with sled (or laundry basket) and a jump rope.  Hours of entertainment!

Camping - Oberlin

The latest...

Latest Mitchisms:
-Says "i thought you were my friend!" Any time he gets in trouble/ gets yelled at.
-Calls Ninjas "injas"
-After singing twinkle twinkle "mom, that rocked."
-Loves doing "the funny things" before bed - where he squishes my face and makes me say different words.

-Also loves the game where I "call him food". E.g. I ask if he's cookies or brownies and when he answers I say, "oh! I LOVE _______" and pretend to nibble his tummy :)
-Hides every morning and after every nap under his pillow pet and yells at us to get out because he's not ready yet (20 more minutes!)
-Wakes up pretending to be a different animal every day: a cat, a dog, today: a "slog" (sloth)

Finn:
-Missing most catches at tball b/c he's compulsively giving me the thumbs up sign from the field 
-"creditors" for predators when talking about animals
-learning to swim and getting so brave in the water from watching friends and cousins
-loves reading chapter books w/me before bed.  right now: castle in the attic
-loves playing with the big kids (especially Jack and Dylan) - splashing in the water near the big kids at the pool today pretending he's  playing with them :)

Heffron boys play date!!

Dylan and Gavin came for a visit the other day and the boys had a blast!  we did a little bit of everything...

First, a tball game. But we couldn't decide whose turn it was so we moved in to...

Basketball.  But everyone was guarding the basket too close and nobody could make a shot.  So we changed it up with...

A game of hide and seek.  But Finn counted way too fast every time and nobody had enough time to hide.  And everyone kept hiding in the same place all together.  So we decided to...

Play freeze tag!  Then auntie Claire got really tired so we came inside...

And had a little snack.  We all slept pretty well that night :). Love those boys!!

Color Run!!!

Finn and I did the color run this morning with my friends from work and we had a blast!!  He was a little reluctant at first, but once we went through the first color station, he was loving it!
