Pretend play with finn

On Monday, I had the stomach flu and was glued to the couch all day. The poor boys were so bored, but were being so good (finn telling mitch "come on mitch, let's go play in the kitchen so we don't bother mom"). At one point as I was dozing off on the couch, finn came up and whispered right into my ear: "mom, let's pretend I'm a poisonous snake and you're a little kid who went outside with no shoes and no socks on, okay?" I love that kid.

The tapping bone

Finn: mom, what's the tapping bone?
Me: I'm not sure what you mean.
Finn: you know, the tapping bone!?!
Me: really buddy, I have no idea what the tapping bone is.
Finn (getting mad at me now): you know...the bone that makes you do this (stepping his foot out in front of him and tapping it like a tap dancer).

Sweet Little Mitchie

More from Mitch

A few more of Mitchie's latest words: bless you, coo coo (excuse me when he wants to get past you), den doo (thank you), pillow pet, ewww! yucky.  He's also putting lots of his old words together: "oh no! truck falling down!" And whispers "wow!" or "whoa!" When he sees something that interests or amazes him (like the pack of paper clips I gave him to hold at wal mart today) :)

Mitchie

This is Mitch's preferred tv watching posture. He's talking so much now and I notice such a big change in his personality lately. He seems to be so much happier and more content. They're noticing this at school too.  He seems really proud of himself when he gets his point across.  Last night he started with a really bad cough right before dinner. In the middle of the night he was coughing so hard that he threw up. I had to rinse him off in the tub and he looked like the most pathetic little creature wrapped up in his towel, lying on my shoulder.  I thought he was falling asleep, but then I heard him say in the quietest little voice, "Cough. Yucky. Sick." Later, we brought him into our bed and he crawled right up to Drew and started rubbing his back, whispering, "Daddy. Nice."  He loves saying hi to everyone and about 100 times a day he'll make his rounds "Hi mommy! Hi daddy! Hi finny!" And repeats it over and over.    :)  He and finn are playing together a lot more too. Mostly, mitch likes to imitate whatever finn is doing. They spend a lot of time chasing each other around the house, with mitch giggling and squealing with excitement.  I was sick today with the stomach flu and both boys were so good all day. We were watching a show in my bed and finn turned to mitch and said, "mitchie, let's go in my room and play so we don't bother mom."  They were funny and sweet all day long, thank goodness because I was miserable.  The first thing finn said to me this morning was "mom! Let's pretend I'm a poisonous snake and you're a little kid who went outside with no shoes or socks on!" He cracks me up! :)
