Welcome Baby Mitch!

We're so happy to announce the arrival of Mitchell White Heffron! He was born at 5:21am on May 30th weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs 10 oz! He's as sweet as can be and Finn is loving being a big brother. He wakes up every morning smiling and saying "Baby! Where are you?" He tries to say "Mitch", but it sounds like "Me". He is very interested in the baby and learning to be gentle (as gentle as an 18 month old can be). In the 2 days we were in the hospital, Finn's vocabulary appears to have quadrupled and he's now even using short phrases like "where are you?", "here you go", "where daddy?". He's becoming quite a performer too and loves having all of the visitors over to see the new baby (although he thinks they're here just to see him!). Here are some of Mitchell's first pictures. For some reason, the pictures of Mitch and Finn with the Heffron cousins would not load onto my computer - don't worry Grandma, they're coming soon! :)

Mothers Day and More

Sharing Sucks

Well, here we are...about to welcome Finn's little brother or sister into our family just as Finn starts the tantrum/grabbing/"no!"/"mine!" phase. Today, as we passed an older gentleman with a walker at the grocery store, Finn yelled angrily at him, "NO! MINE!" Was he telling the man that the cart of groceries was his? Did it look to Finn like the man was making a move for Finn's box of Cheerios? Not sure. This should make for an interesting summer as Baby Heffron #2 enters the scene. While I was uploading our recent pictures onto the computer just now, I realized that we had documented some great examples of Finn's new "toddler behavior". See below.

Not quite sure what happened here, I think Drew had stepped in after Finn grabbed a toy out of Gavin's hands, leading to a mini meltdown.

This is Drew's favorite. He thinks it's poetic how Finn is in the foreground with a tear streaming down his cheek while Gavin is slightly out of focus, looking on innocently. This is right after Finn had grabbed another toy away from Gavin.

In this one, Finn is vehemently guarding his toy area (note that one hand is on his lawnmower just in case Gavin makes any sudden moves), while Gavin is happy just looking at the camera.

As Annie and Erin pose for the picture, Finn takes the opportunity to reach into Annie's bowl of chips, helping himself to one. Looking very happy that no one is watching him.

Here, Annie notices that her snack has been taken. Note the look of horror on Erin's face and how quickly Finn is stuffing the chip into his mouth before anyone can take it away.

In this shot, Annie has angrily thrown the bowl of chips onto the couch, as Finn looks on without compassion.

Now, Annie's snack has been ruined forever but Finn is still thoroughly enjoying that chip.

Rockefeller Greenhouse and More Spring!

Not sure how I missed these pictures - thought I posted them already. Here are some good ones of Finn at the greenhouse with Grandma Heffron and Uncle Max and another trip to the greenhouse with the Gilbrides. He really enjoyed having Uncle Max home for spring break and they got to go on a long hike with Kaya in the backyard. Finn is learning a lot of new words and signs. The favorite sign right now is "airplane" and since we live by the airport, he gets to practice it a lot (literally every time a plane goes overhead:).
He's also into blowing bubbles, playing with the sidewalk chalk, and coloring with/eating crayons. We've been enjoying lots of time outside in the backyard and around the neighborhood in the stroller. Finn is still loving the rec center's Tumble Time where he gets to play with the basketballs and scooters. In fact, whenever we drive by the rec center, he lets me know that he'd like to stop in for a visit (usually not in the most pleasant way).
He's been eating hummus by the pound for lunch and dinner lately - the kid can't get enough hummus and pita - and is really starting to eat most of the same foods we eat at dinner time (tacos, pizza, etc.). He's getting to be so big and I think he'll make a nice big brother!

Easter 2010

We had a great Easter with the Heffron family at our house. The kids had fun dying eggs in the backyard and hunting for the ones the bunny hid for them! It was a fun day!

Look what the Easter Bunny brought!
